40ft Shipping Containers for Sale in the USA
A 40ft standard (40DC) is the classic 8'6" high, 40ft long dry container. It carries the same weight as a high cube with one foot less height, which still suits most storage and a large share of export cargo. This page lists the US cities where we hold 40DC units in depot now and the grades they come in.
Written quote within one business day: depot, grade, unit price and delivery.

What a 40ft standard container is used for
Most new production is high cube, so 40DC units are mostly used grades (Cargo Worthy, WWT, As-Is). Where a 40DC is not in depot, a 40HC is usually the nearest option.
- General storage on site, farm or yard
- Export cargo that reaches the weight limit before the roof
- Routes and sites with a height restriction
Grades
The grade sets the price and what the container is fit for. The same grade names are used in every US depot.
- Brand New (one-trip): Built in China and used once to ship goods to the US. Near-perfect condition, full remaining CSC life.
- IICL: Inspected and repaired to the IICL standard, the grade leasing companies accept back. Wind and water tight.
- Cargo Worthy: Structurally sound and fit for international shipping with a valid CSC plate. Cosmetic wear, dents and patches.
- WWT: Wind and water tight for storage. Not certified for sea transport.
- As-Is: Sold in its current condition, defects accepted. For conversion, parts or budget storage.
Pickup and delivery
Units are sold ex-depot: you collect at the depot with a tilt-bed or chassis, or we quote delivery to your site. Delivery is priced per site, from the distance, the access and the truck it needs.
Tell us the delivery address, the grade and the quantity. The written quote states the depot, the unit price, the delivery cost and the payment terms.
