A storage container rental puts a sealed, weatherproof steel unit on your own site for as long as you need it. The container is delivered, placed where you want it, and collected when the job is finished. You do not buy it, you do not resell it, and you do not deal with what happens to it afterwards.

MG-Atlantic supplies these units from the same depot network that serves our shipping clients. That means the equipment is survey-grade rather than whatever a local yard has left, and the condition is stated before it leaves the depot rather than discovered on arrival.

What You Get

The unit.

A 20ft or 40ft ISO shipping container: welded steel, marine plywood floor, cargo doors at one end with a lockable locking bar. Wind and watertight — the same standard required to carry cargo at sea.

The condition, stated.

Every unit is released against a recorded grade. Cargo Worthy and Wind & Watertight are the two that matter for storage: both keep water out, and the difference is cosmetic and structural margin rather than shelter. What you are getting is written down before dispatch, not described on the phone.

The placement.

The container arrives on a truck and is set down where you direct it, provided the ground and the access allow it. Level, firm ground and a clear approach are what make the difference between a twenty-minute delivery and a wasted journey.

How It Works

1. 1. Tell us the site and the duration. Location, how long, and what you intend to store. Size follows from that, not the other way round.
2. 2. Allocation. We reserve a unit of the agreed grade from the nearest depot holding suitable stock.
3. 3. Delivery. The container is trucked to your site and placed. You receive the condition record at handover.
4. 4. Collection. When you are done, we collect. Empty and accessible is all that is asked; what you leave inside comes back at your cost.

What Storage Container Rental Costs, and How It Is Priced

A storage rental is not a single number. It is three or four components, and which ones apply depends on your site.

Delivery.

Trucking the unit from the depot to your location, and the placement itself. Charged once, and driven by distance and access far more than by the container.

The monthly rate.

What the unit costs for each month it stays with you. Terms are monthly; there is no minimum term.

Collection.

The return journey. Quoted with delivery, not later, so the full cost is known before the container arrives.

Damage.

Assessed on collection against the condition recorded at delivery. A documented handover at both ends is what keeps this line at zero.

What moves the total is the corridor and the site, not the box. A container delivered forty minutes from a depot with a clear yard and one delivered to a constrained urban site three hours away are not the same commercial object, which is why storage rental is quoted rather than listed.

Which Size You Need

A 20ft unit holds roughly the contents of a two-bedroom house or a small workshop; a 40ft unit holds a little over twice that. High Cube variants add about a foot of interior height, which matters for racking and for anything loaded upright. How much does it cost to rent a storage container?

From components rather than a single rate: delivery to your site, a monthly rate for as long as you keep the unit, collection at the end, and damage assessed against the condition recorded at delivery. Distance from the depot and site access move the total more than the container size does.

What size storage container do I need?

A 20ft unit suits a house move, a small workshop or site tooling. A 40ft unit suits a full household, bulk stock or long items. If anything is loaded upright or on racking, a High Cube adds useful height. When two sizes both fit, the cheaper delivery usually decides it.

What do I need to prepare before delivery?

Firm, level ground and a clear approach for a truck. The unit is set down, not craned, unless a crane has been agreed in advance. Soft ground, tight turns and overhead cables are the three things that turn a delivery into a return journey.

Can I move the container once it has been delivered?

Not without arranging it. The unit stays where it was placed for the duration of the rental. Moving it on site or to another address is a separate operation and is quoted separately.

Is a rented container secure and weatherproof?

The units supplied for storage are wind and watertight, which is the standard required to carry cargo at sea. Doors take a standard lockbox. Steel and a sealed door do the work; nothing stored outdoors is beyond damp without ventilation, so anything sensitive should be packed accordingly.

Is it better to rent or to buy a storage container?

Duration decides. For a defined project, renting avoids tying up capital and hands back the disposal problem at the end. For a permanent use — site storage that will still be there in three years — buying is almost always cheaper over the life of the asset. The crossover depends on the corridor and the monthly rate, not on a rule of thumb.
